The miracle is in the pudding..
Posted by Hannah Shears
I have not eaten pudding in years! I think it was the Cosby Commercials that turned me off, all that happiness...
How could one be so happy eating pudding? Perhaps it was the texture, I have always had texture issues.
Oh issues, don't we all have them? I think we are all like onions, just when we have peeled one layer off, there is another one.. a little fresher and a lot more stinkier! (not sure if that is a word?). As of late the layers have been coming off much faster; sometimes like a band aid which is pulled off too fast. Ouch you know that feeling!
My experience in Lac La Biche this past weekend was hands down amazing. Serena Arora (she should be a rockstar with that name) owns THRIVE! Naturally and asked me to come to her beautiful studio to teach a workshop and do private sessions. I am not sure who learned more; me or the students.
I had an interesting question in which I have been pondering...
"How do you know when you have let go of a belief? Is it instant or does it take time?"
Depending how deep and how long you have held onto that belief (that no longer serves you), once you release that belief you could experience several things. Some people report feeling lighter, happier or even a little uncomfortable. It is like moving furniture; you like the change but you still bump into the newly placed pieces. It has to feel different and even a little odd; it is a shift! Shifts have to happen in order for change to take place...
I have been noticing a belief that I can not make money at what I love. I can work in the corporate world and make a ton of money but in the end my body revolts!
Another belief is that I will not be accepted with all my beliefs, truths, perceptions, quirks and career choices by my family and friends. Put me in front of 1 million people and I can talk their ears off and have profound experiences! Put me in front of my family and I clam up and go back into a holding pattern of being closed off and using humour to deflect. Weird eh?
Step 1: Recognize the belief
Step 2: Notice what this belief inhibits you from doing, getting or being in your life
Step 3: Acknowledge that although this belief was picked up in childhood; now in your adult life you have chosen to take this belief on
Step 4: Ask yourself "Is it within my highest and best interest to hold onto this belief? Am I ready to let go of this belief?"
Step 5: Release this belief (Do this several ways; fire ceremony, water, going on your favorite walk and releasing it but just release it - say it out loud, scream, get angry)
Step 6: Choose a new belief
People including myself usually ask "NOW WHAT?".
Live in gratitude that you at least recognize a block and have released it. If you feel it come up again, go through the steps again. You have to know the pay off, the WHY, notice how this inhibits from getting to your goals, notice how it blocks you and release.
You can even do this by using your breathe. BREATHE OUT THE BELIEF, imagine it leaving every cell in your body. BREATHE IN the new belief.
NOW it is time to choose a new belief. If I am blocked at making money at what I love.. what do I want to believe now?
I make money doing what I love easily and effortlessly.
My other belief is that I do not feel safe being me in close relationships. So what do I believe now?
I am safe being open, present and loving in all my relationships.
Sometimes it is nice to have reminders of your new beliefs. Put it on your wall, bathroom mirror or put a reminder on your computer or phone that randomly pops up. Set yourself up for success.
Just as you choose, some point in your life, to take on that other belief that no longer serves, you also choose the new one. Just as all other beliefs, this too will become second nature.
All beliefs are taken as there is an appearance that it will protect us in some manner; good or bad we take it on.
So how do we know when we have shifted?
The miracle is in the pudding! Your life, even on smaller or bigger levels, will change. You will just feel it, you will know and you will see and experience physical miracles in all aspects of your life.
Want to feel more? Celebrate what you already have. Sometimes we forget how far we have come already.
Most of all... all you analyzers out there... just be in the present moment. Breathe.. Breathe out the old belief and breathe in the new one.
When all else fails... eat pudding.

This is a fantastic post. I loved reading it. GAD, You are so damn good at communicating your ideas and thoughts and getting your point across.
I just LOVED reading this Hannah. You just speak to me in so many ways, so many truths, so many "aha" moments come from hearing what you have to say. Thank you for reassuring me that it is OK and good to let old things go. We do not have to carry on patterns of ingrained behavior that others think we should. It is OK to break free. :)
I can completely relate to what you stated about being accepted and understood by family and friends. Sometimes I get the same feeling, however on that note, I find comfort in the notion that I am at such a place where "I am open, and I get it"...when life is going to hand me challenge and struggle, I will be at a place where I can move forward and understand the deeper meaning. I don't have to be faced with adversity and struggle and hardship for me to realize how precious and fleeting time and moments really are. We get it..and how great is that??? :)
Nicely said Hannah!
